A Message from Ricky Spicuzza, General Manager of Kennywood and Sandcastle
April 15, 2026

To our Passholders, Guests and the Communities We Serve,
Thank you for being a part of the Kennywood family and for your continued support of our park. At nearly 130 years old, Kennywood isn’t just a theme park, it’s an iconic part of what makes Pittsburgh such a special place for families to live, work, and play.
As we look ahead to the 2026 season, I wanted to take a moment to share just how much care and dedication our hosts have poured into the park this offseason as we continue our mission of Bringing Families Closer Together by Creating Memories Worth Repeating®.
This year, we are proud to introduce Celebrate Kennywood Weekends, a brand-new event series that honors the traditions that make Kennywood so special. From creative new takes on our famous Potato Patch® fries to nostalgic photo opportunities around the park, this event is all about celebrating the memories you’ve made with us, and the ones still to come.

We are also excited to debut two refreshed food locations on Opening Day. The new Big Dipper, named to honor the former Dipper roller coaster, will serve up delicious hand dipped ice cream cones with unique flavors and banana splits across from Noah’s Ark. The new Centennial Grill in Lost Kennywood brings back guest-favorite classics like cheesesteaks and potato tots.
In 2026, we’re celebrating two major ride anniversaries: the 100th birthday of The Whip and the 25th anniversary of Phantom’s Revenge. To mark the occasion, both attractions have received commemorative anniversary logos along with exciting updates.

The Whip will feature new fencing this season and proudly display its anniversary logo on every ride vehicle. The Phantom’s Revenge has also been refreshed, with the new logo added to both trains, a bold alternating green and purple car arrangement, an upgraded station, and the return of its original ride audio, newly re-recorded. These enhancements honor each ride’s legacy while showcasing Kennywood’s commitment to blending classic charm with modern thrills for generations to come.
Since joining Kennywood in 2002, I’ve had the privilege of watching this park grow and evolve while staying true to the traditions that make it so meaningful to our guests. Looking ahead, we remain committed to honoring that legacy through new experiences, beloved attractions, and unforgettable moments for you and your family.
I can’t wait to welcome you all back to the park this Saturday, April 18 and to Sandcastle Water Park on Saturday, May 23!
See you this season,

Richard Spicuzza
