An All-New Tasting Experience

There’s something special about experiencing fall in Pittsburgh — the crisp air, colorful leaves, warm seasonal flavors and the excitement of a day spent outdoors. At Kennywood’s Phantom Fall Fest, you can take it all in, all in one place.

This year, Kennywood’s Phantom Fall Fest is bringing even more flavor to the season with the new Fall Fest Tasting Experience, giving guests a chance to taste their way around the Lagoon while enjoying the rides, atmosphere and autumn traditions that make Kennywood a Western Pennsylvania tradition.

Available Saturdays and Sundays from 12–6 p.m. through Nov. 1, the Fall Fest Tasting Experience features five locations throughout the park, each offering a selection of seasonal food and drinks inspired by the flavors of fall.

“We wanted something for families to do during the day along with their kids and our new trick-or-treat trail as well, so we came up with our fall tasting event, and so far it’s been a great success,” said EJ Randolph, Director of Park Revenue at Kennywood.

And the best way to experience it? Pick up a Fall Fest Tasting Card, which includes five food or drink samples for $39.99. Season Passholders get an extra sample — six for the price of five — making it an easy way for couples, families or groups of friends to mix and match and try a little bit of everything.

Mouthwatering Fall Flavors to Try

The Fall Fest Tasting Experience takes guests around the Lagoon and through five unique tasting locations, each with its own lineup of fall-inspired favorites.

“We wanted to embrace those harvest flavors — apple, cinnamon, pumpkin — and accent it with things like maple and pecan,” Randolph said. “You can always still get the classics here, but you really should try out the Fall Tasting Experience to get some seasonal specialties like our sausage and potato skillet and our pumpkin bread pudding.”

At Apple Grove, guests can lean into the sweeter side of fall with a Hot Apple Dumpling, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Cinnamon Sugar Churro Bites, Hot Apple Cider or a Seasonal Beer.

Cinnamon Street brings together sweet and savory flavors with Maple Cinnamon Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, Pork Belly Skillet, Cinnamon Pumpkin Bread Pudding, Hot Apple Cider and a Seasonal Beer.

Over at Potatoes and Pints, Kennywood classics get a fall twist with a Kielbasa & Potato Skillet, Pierogies, Apple Cider Cupcake and a Seasonal Beer.

The Pretzel Bakery offers a more traditional Oktoberfest-inspired stop with a Bavarian Pretzel, Bratwurst & Sauerkraut, Fall Cannoli and a Seasonal Beer.

And at Smokey Hollow, guests can dig into hearty fall flavors including Smoked Mac & Cheese, Chili Boule, Caramel Bacon Brownie, plus Seasonal Beer or Varietal Wine.

There’s plenty of variety, but the menu has one thing in common: it’s designed around the flavors people crave as the weather gets cooler.

One Card, Five Tastes — and Plenty to Share

One of the best parts of the Fall Fest Tasting Card is the freedom to mix and match. For $39.99, you get five generous food or drink samples from any of the tasting locations — six if you’re a Season Passholder. It’s a great option for families and groups who want to share, sample a variety of fall flavors and still have room for rides, treats and everything else Phantom Fall Fest has to offer.

And if you ask Randolph which tasting item guests shouldn’t miss?

“My favorite is probably going to be the baked apple with ice cream,” he said.

More than a Food Festival

Of course, the Fall Fest Tasting Experience comes with a Kennywood backdrop. Make your way around the Lagoon sampling seasonal flavors, hop on your favorite rides and enjoy the Fall Fest Trick-or-Treat Trail before the park transforms after dark. It’s the best of both worlds — fall flavors by day and Halloween thrills by night.
