Put your nerves to the test with Steel Curtain

Kennywood and the Pittsburgh Steelers are proud to introduce the Steel Curtain! At a maximum height of 220 feet, the colossal steel structure of the coaster serves as a landmark addition to the park. During this two-minute adrenaline rush, riders speed through 4,000 feet of track at 76 miles per hour. If that’s not enough to get your heart racing, navigating the 9 inversions certainly will! You will need nerves of steel to face this ride, but once you try it, you will be back again and again. Steel Curtain is guaranteed to make a lasting impression.

This adrenaline-pumping new ride was introduced in 2019 and immediately became one of Kennywood’s flagship attractions. When it opened, it won the Golden Ticket Award for Best New Rollercoaster. Needless to say, we were extremely proud to bring this title home and see our latest creation recognized worldwide. But this is not the ride’s only claim to fame! It also set three new records: the Pennsylvania state record for Tallest Roller Coaster, the North American record for Most Inversions and the world record for Tallest Inversion at 197 feet above the ground!

After braving this exhilarating coaster, catch your breath at the End Zone Cafe & Tailgate Patio and enjoy a refreshing drink with your friends. Located in the heart of Steelers Country, the ride is surrounded by attractions and games inspired by the Steelers and includes a gift shop packed with memorabilia of Pittsburgh’s beloved football team.

Fun Fact: we named the ride after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ famous 1970s defensive line. The ‘Steel Curtain’ led Pittsburgh to its first four Super Bowls in the 1970s.

Riders must be at least 52” tall to ride. This ride has a maximum height of 77”.
