Meet a Few of the People Who Make Phantom Fall Fest Possible
Isaac: Bringing the Creatures of the Night to Life
As a member of Kennywood’s Phantom Fall Fest make-up team, Isaac helps transform scare actors into some of the Phantom’s fiercest creatures. Recognized by his managers for his artistic talent, Isaac is also an illustrator who loves the creative freedom his role offers.
For Isaac, one of the best parts of Phantom Fall Fest is the welcoming, collaborative team. His advice for anyone considering joining the crew? Just go for it — you might make memories that keep you coming back year after year.
Audrey: Adding Storytelling to the Scares
A first-year member of the Detached cast, Audrey quickly adapted to her role welcoming guests into the haunt. She loves seeing guests’ reactions, whether they’re running in fear, laughing or sharing a funny comment.
Audrey is especially drawn to Detached’s story-driven experience and the opportunity to connect with guests through her characters. Outside of Kennywood, she’s a performance poet who participates in local community and competitive spoken-word events.
Sue: All Hail the Queen of Hearts!
Since joining Kennywood’s haunts team in 2021, Sue has embraced her role as the Queen of Hearts in mALICE in Wonderland Unleashed, which debuted in 2022.
Recognized by her managers for her reliability, friendliness and willingness to help others, Sue brings plenty of personality to Wonderland. She originally joined the team to try something new and encourages others to step outside their comfort zones, too. Once you put on your makeup and costume, she says, you can be anyone you want!
Steve: A Familiar Face With Many Roles
Steve has been part of Kennywood’s haunts team since 2017, taking on roles in Kennyville Cemetery, Gory Park and Hellbilly Hollow before becoming a roving scare actor in 2024.
But his work doesn't stop when the scares begin! During the rest of the season, Steve is also a valued member of Kennywood’s costumed character and park services teams. He enjoys the variety of his work, which can take him from keeping the park clean to entertaining guests and delivering scares — all in one day.
Outside the park, Steve pursues another creative passion: independent filmmaking, including Pittsburgh’s 48-Hour Film Festival.
Charlie: Helping Lead the Haunts Team
A Kennywood fall season staple since 2008, Charlie has worked in several haunts over the years, including Captain Skully’s and Biofear, before helping design and moving to Shady Grove Memorial Hospital.
Today, Charlie serves as an area supervisor for Phantom Fall Fest’s haunts team, helping connect individual attractions with department leadership. He’s also involved in recruiting new scare actors and building the teams that bring the experience to life.
After nearly two decades of fall seasons at Kennywood, Charlie says he’s proud to be part of the work that transforms the park each year.
