Kennywood: Behind The Screams, Pocket Edition is bursting with more than 118 years of history. It takes long-time fanatics and new visitors on a walking tour though Kennywood, one of only two amusement parks in the United States named a National Historic Landmark, by bringing to life the stories and memories of each and every ride and attraction with more than 300 high-quality photos. It also explores the changing architecture, entertainment, and regional history that has had an impact on the park. This “pocket-sized” edition is the first of three books exploring Kennywood and Luna Park (a short-lived park in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, and the model for much of Lost Kennywood).
Author Brian Butko has written books on Isaly’s, diners, and the Lincoln Highway. He is editor of Western Pennsylvania History magazine and Director of Publications at the Senator John Heinz History Center. Kennywood: Behind The Screams, Pocket Edition is the first in a three-book series he is writing about Kennywood and Pittsburgh’s Luna Park.
Kennywood: Behind the Screams, Pocket Edition is available now in Kennywood’s Gift Shops. Pick up a copy during your next visit, or through the Heinz History Center at shop.heinzhistorycenter.org.
