Happy Hauntings 2017

New for 2017! Happy Hauntings at Kennywood

A kid-friendly Halloween event, Saturdays and Sundays, October 7 - 29 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

With the sweet smell of fall in the air, Kennywood transforms into a festival of fun! Pumpkins replace flowers, and cornstalks sprout up throughout the park. Young riders can enjoy Kiddieland and favorites such as the Merry-Go-Round, Auto Race and Jack Rabbit. Plus hay rides, pumpkin decorating, and more! Enjoy traditional fun fall activities in the one-of-a-kind setting of Kennywood!

And don’t worry, the Phantom and his fearsome friends will stay away from Happy Hauntings. This event is geared for children under 10. Children may dress in costumes – some costumes may not be permitted on select rides. See the FAQ section below for further details.

Rides & Activities

The Happy Hay Ride – Hop aboard, settle into the hay and watch Kennywood go by on the Happy Hay Ride! The Hay Ride picks guests up in front of the Parkside Café for a tour of select areas of Kennywood. Location: In front of the Parkside Café/Mortem Manor

Pumpkin decorating – Get a jumpstart on your Halloween decorations when you come to Happy Hauntings! Get your pumpkin, decorate it however you please and take it home as a souvenir, where you can carve to your heart’s content! Location: Pavilion 15 near Kiddieland. Additional fee required to decorate pumpkins. Please note: pumpkins cannot be carved during Happy Hauntings.

The Mystery Maze – Weave your way through the maze. Watch out: some friendly monsters may be waiting! Location: Pavilions near Kiddieland

Kenny’s Halloween Dance Party – After eating too much candy, Kenny and crew need to burn off some energy! Join them at the Garden Stage for a dance party! Location: Garden Stage. Times:

What is Happy Hauntings?
New to Kennywood for Fall 2017, Happy Hauntings is a kid-friendly Halloween event. Children can enjoy Kiddieland and some ‘big-kid’ rides while also trick-or-treating, decorating pumpkins, and more!  

When is Happy Hauntings?
Happy Hauntings takes places on Saturdays and Sundays beginning October 7 and ending October 29. Hours are 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

How much are tickets?

What age is this event appropriate for?
Happy Hauntings is designed with children under 10 in mind, however, all those young in heart can expect to enjoy themselves!

Can we dress up or wear Halloween costumes for Happy Hauntings?
Children are permitted to wear costumes to Kennywood for Happy Hauntings. However, parts of some costumes (such as capes or longer accessories) may not be worn on select rides for safety reasons. Please, no adults in costume for Happy Hauntings.

What rides are open for Happy Hauntings?
Kiddieland attractions will be open, along with the Merry Go Round, Jack Rabbit, Paratrooper, Auto Race, and Olde Kennywood Railroad. Please note, ride lineup is subject to change based on availability.

Is all of Kennywood open?
Like most of Kennywood’s special seasonal events, only a limited portion of the park is open for Happy Hauntings. The majority of activities occur in the area around the Lagoon & in Kiddieland. The Happy Hay Ride takes guests through other areas of the park, which are not accessible by foot.

Is my Season Pass valid for Happy Hauntings?
No, Season Passes cannot be used for Happy Hauntings                                                  

Can we carve our pumpkins at Happy Hauntings?
Pumpkins are available for purchase at our pumpkin decorating stations. Accessories will be available to decorate the pumpkins, however they cannot be carved at Kennywood. Of course, you can take your pumpkin home and carve it there if you wish!

Are any food stands open?
Yes! Open food stands include Kandy Kaleidoscope, Snack-A-Saurus by Bean Sprouts, Star Refreshment Stand, The Swhinery BBQ, Pizza Warehouse, Auntie Anne’s (at Log Jammer Lemonade Stand) and Rita’s (Racer location).

I need a wheelchair or stroller. Are they available?
Just like our Summer, Phantom Fright Nights and Holiday Lights events, wheelchairs (standard and motorized), wagons and strollers are available for rental at the park entrance.
