in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of pittsburgh, we've changed the name of Celebrate America to celebrate pittsburgh. join us June 30th thru July 6th as we celebrate our great city and all things pittsburgh. of course, we'll celebrate america while we're at it!!

Celebrate Pittsburgh turns back the clock to a by-gone era and a glimpse of the way things used to be and honors the great city of Pittsburgh.

From Monday, June 30th thru Sunday July 6th, Celebrate Pittsburgh brings many special sights and sounds to Kennywood. Mimes, jugglers, stilt walkers, and magicians who feature old-fashioned slight of hand tricks entertain around the park each day. A world-class ragtime piano player at the gazebo echoes through the trees behind Kennywood's Kandy Kaleidoscope. Traveling four-piece bands roam the park playing everything from patriotic tunes to family favorites from the sixties and seventies.

Each day antique or classic cars are scattered through the park.  You might see Ford Model A's, Pontiac GTO's, and Corvettes, or other jaw-dropping beauties.

And don't miss craft displays and demonstrations. There's renowned carrousel horse carver, George Nowak, chain saw carver Jeff Pinney, champion ice carver Rich Bubin, Maria Nadik from Maria Custom Creations (jewelry) and Pittsburgh artist Linda Barnicott. The kids will enjoy extra fun activities provided by Pittsburgh's Children's Museum.

Each day brings different special entertainment forms to the Celebrate Pittsburgh stage in Pavilion 23, near the Log Jammer.  (See Schedule).

There's even a Pittsburgh themed parade each evening at 6PM, led by Kenny Kangaroo, of course.  Celebrate Pittsburgh adds another festive feeling of yesteryear as Kennywood Team Members take a quick break to dress in circus parade garb as muscle men, keystone kops, clowns, flappers and, of course, a ringmaster.

Capping off each night is another family favorite - fireworks!  What a better way to close out a full day of fun, thrills, and excitement? It's just another way to make a new memory at Kennywood!

Discount coupons good for $10.00 off the FunDay (regular $32.00), Junior FunDay (regularly $19.00) and Senior FunDay (regularly $15.00) are available at participating Giant Eagle locations (click here for locations). Coupons are valid only June 30 - July 6, 2008.
