Architecture and History at Kennywood
Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation (PHLF) offers several programs to be used by students during your Education Day visit to draw attention to Kennywood's rich history and architecture.
1. The "30-Minute Kennywood
Architect"
Download the "30-Minute
Kennywood Architect" for your students to complete this set of six worksheets
in the Lost Kennywood area. They are expected
to take about 30 minutes on this assignment,
so encourage them to show thought, care, imagination, and a feasible solution to the problem posed. Collect the worksheets to grade or use as you wish.
2. Kennywood Timeline & Fun and Fascinating Facts
Download these to learn about the history of Kennywood
and some trivia too.
3. Kennywood: A Classroom for Learning
Download the worksheets you think are most appropriate
for your students. The 12 worksheets will give
your students a chance to use their skills in
social studies, language arts, math, and business
during their visit to Kennywood.
4. Kennywood Detail Sheets:
Download this set of sheets featuring photographic details
of historic buildings and places in Kennywood.
Students should attempt to correctly identify
the location of each
detail. This can be an individual or group project. Answers will be online after May 20, or call Joyce at 412.464.9931.
We thank you for looking at our Kennywood activities and encourage you to check the many other programs offered through PH&LF. Please visit our Web site or call our office.
Sincerely,
Louise Sturgess
