New in 2008:
Lord Kenneth Ghostwood & his estate

Until now, Lord Ghostwood has chosen to remain anonymous, i.e., the Kenny family's "silent" partner.

Yes, many people believe the name Kennywood is a derivation of (Anthony) Kenny's woods. Now it seems that there may have been another compelling reason for the name "Kennywood".

Regardless, 2008 poses a situation so serious to Lord Ghostwood that he has decided to introduce himself and ask for our help.

Apparently the estate has attracted countless other spirits over the decades. It must be a comfortable place because they have refused to leave. Now his home is unbearably overcrowded.
Lord Ghostwood

The challenge for Kennywood guests is this: Ally with Lord Ghostwood to eliminate the unwanted spirits. He'll provide the buggy (with seating for four) and a blaster for each guest. In a competition of sorts, guests will blast away at the ghosts and spirits, eliminating as many as possible.

Just one more detail: there are no tracks for the vehicles. Nor are there steering wheels. They will be guided entirely by Lord Ghostwood's spirit. Do we trust him? Time will tell.

What's new in 2007?  Lots!

Do thrills float your boat? Then step aboard Kennywood’s newest thrill ride: Cosmic Chaos!

The ride seats 24 people on a giant disk, a.k.a. the UFO, upon motorcycle-like pedestal seats with back restraints. Arms and legs are free from restraint and the passenger looks outward.

From a top height of 50’ the space ship begins its untamed flight along the 120’ concave track while its passengers spin around in circle. The result? An experience that offers guests an “out of the world” experience!

Kennywood Entertainment President, Pete McAneny, after riding a prototype at the industry’s trade show, describes it this way: “The ride sensation is totally different than anything I've ever experienced. Just when you think you've seen everything, something completely different arrives!”

Cosmic Chaos, as the name suggests,
includes some UFO theming. So does the new gift shop, located next to the ride in the former Guest Services Building.
A totally new and visitor friendly Guest Services
is now located just down the midway.

After leaving port in Italy on March 26, the S.S. Kenny voyaged across the ocean, landing in New York on April 9, and arriving at Kennywood on April 12. After a few days in dry dock, Kenny's
new tug will move to its final destination: Kiddieland.
